THANK YOU!!!

July 8, 2005

To the Premier 14 Gold Team (Players and Families),

One week after Louisville, I find myself still thinking about all the truly amazing players, coaches and families involved in the Premier volleyball program during 2005. On behalf of my family and some of the other 17 Gold families, I believe the 14 Golds need to be commended. Not only were the 14 Gold players a truly gifted group of athletes, they were also very mature and showed a great deal of class at the National Invitational in Louisville. The 17's were very thankful for all their support during their matches and were truly inspired by the support and cheers of the 14's (players and coaches) and their families. The 17s were very disappointed they couldn't always win for you, but please know that you incented them to play their best. We were very proud to be associated with "YU ALL" and look forward to seeing you again next club season. Best of luck during the upcoming year and you can be our travelling buddies any time!!

The Bergmeier Family and the other 17 Gold Families

PROGRAMS AND SCHEDULES ON LINE
You can download and print the Crossroads program, the tournament schedule and the club rosters from the internet. Click here for Entire Schedule The downloads are free and let you have all the tournament information that you want (you can customize your tournament information by picking and choosing what you want) at your finger tips days before you come to the tournament.

In addition, anyone who brings a hand-held device running Palm OS 3.5 or higher to the tournament can use a special version of the Palm program developed by University Athlete (like the program the college coaches use to follow the tournament) to follow up to ten teams. And it’s free, too. This Palm program has the rosters for all the teams and the complete schedule. It can be updated for results from previous matches at the “beaming station” at the Championship Desk so you can follow the specific schedules of up to ten teams.

So we won’t be printing any programs or schedules. You can choose the information you want and print your own personalized version of the tournament information at home or use the Palm program. (Not only is this easier and more fun, but, after all, we’re from Colorado and we are tree lovers. This is a great way for us to save some of them!)

Nets at CSM

February 28, 2005

All Premier teams:

We will put all equipment away as it is supposed to be stored or we will lose the practice time. NO exceptions. If you don't know how the nets are to be stored - ASK. If you do know how - DO IT. This is unacceptable. It's very simple, we either take care of the facility and the equipment or we lose it.

If there are any questions, please call me and I will clarify whatever needs to be answered.

Rick Welch, Club Director

Lost Keys - 16 Black Player

February 16, 2005

Erica Lau on the 16 Black VB team misplaced her keys at Explosive Edge / VB practice on Tuesday night.

Her keychain had a pink ribbon, Hard Rock Cafe keychain and an "E" keychain together with 5 keys. She thinks when she tossed her purse into her athletic bag between Explosive Edge and VB practice, the keys may have accidentally fallen into someone else's bag close by.

Your help is appreciated! If keys are found call Becky at 361-1503 daytime or 359-5376 evening.

Kristin Lebeda Featured in Article

February 7, 2005

Below is an article out of Hot Psychology Magazine. It's a new publication. It's more of an edgy look at psychology. They have a featured sports section and asked Melissa Kucirek, 16 Black Head Coach, to write anything about sports and psychology. Melissa suggested the mental preparation and focus needed to be successful in volleyball, and they liked the idea. The article features Kristen Lebeda (16 White Head Coach) and Trish Siedlik (16 White Asst. Coach and CSM's Head Coach).

Xplosive Edge Strength Training Update

January 8, 2005

We have been getting a lot of questions regarding Xplosive Edge Training, Schedules and practice time changes coinciding with training.

Please be patient with adjustments as we get started. We made adjustments to our practice schedules after we received the CSM Basketball schedules. We have to do this. It's their gym.

Xplosive Edge will have to adjust to our schedules just the same. They will attempt to schedule their training similar to what they originally set up. Teams will train either one hour prior to their scheduled practice, 30 minutes prior, immediately after practice or 30 minutes following practice. We hope to post a revised schedule as soon as we can. Until then please be patient.

We are trying to make this as convenient as possible and avoid conflicts with Sunday tournaments and the adjustment of practice times on Sunday. That's the main reason we went to Friday and Saturday for the "second session" of training each week. If these times are too inconvenient, please discuss this with Xplosive Edge. They will work with you as best they can provided they don't get over-loaded during one time with "drop-ins".

Some parents have asked about bring both of their kids to the same session. Again, this shouldn't be a problem as long as the Xplosive Edge coaches are aware that this will be happening, so they have adequate staff to train the athletes there. Please contact them and ask if it's OK before you drop in.

During the week (Monday thru Thursday) we would expect each team to follow their assigned time. The Xplosive Edge and my coaches would like the teams working together as much as possible for similarity of age groups as well as an additional team bonding aspect. They will support each other as they get better together.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Thanks!

Rick Welch, Club Director

Xplosive Edge Strength Training - UPDATE

December 16, 2004

OK, everyone! We just heard from Robby and we're good to go on January 3rd!

More specific information to follow but they will start installation on the 22nd and soon will have one of the best weight rooms in the state in place and ready for Premier!

Xplosive Edge plans to have one coach there every day and two on days required, to maintain a ten to one ratio per session.

We appreciate everyone's patience. It's been hard to keep the excitement bottled up but we don't have long to wait now!

Reminder, for those that have NOT tested yet. Saturday, December 18th at 2:00 at the Center on 144th and Giles Road is your chance! We will be testing players just prior to Xplosive Edge testing the Omaha Beef team!

A special thanks to CSM and Leigh Officer for their vision and cooperation in making this a reality for all of us!

Kristin Blair Heads All Nebraska Small College Team

December 15, 2004

Some more to our current coaches and former coaches.

CSM's Blair also took her team to the national tournament, leading the Flames to the Elite Eight and a 31-9 final record. The senior rightside hitter from Columbus Scotus had 562 kills and a .340 hitting percentage. She was a second-team All-American after being honorable mention last year and the Midlands Collegiate Athletics Conference player of the year. CSM Coach Trish Siedlik said Blair wasn't the typical go-to player the Flames have had in the past, but she was there when she was needed. "We had a lot of young players who could get the job done as well," she said. "That's why I was so proud of Kristin. We had so many young players on the court that she was very patient with."

Xplosive Edge Strength Training

October 27, 2004 (Updated December 13, 2004)

FINAL PREPARATIONS ARE BEING MADE!! MORE INFORMATION TO COME!

We will be recommending everyone in our club to get involved in this program for the complete development and care of their children. Part of the Xplosive Edge program is the pre-testing criteria. Whether the athletes decide to participate or not we want every player to get tested. They test for vertical jump, 10 yard and 40 yard dash times, pro-agility drill time and body fat. They have reduced their prices for Premier over 70% and may even move equipment into CSM for on-site training! Players selected to play for Premier will be asked to attend one session of testing. There is no extra charge for the testing.

Payment plans for the Xplosive Edge program will be available through Xplosive Edge. Players may choose to get training for one full year for $50/ month or six months of training for 12 monthly payments of $30. The training will be scheduled twice per week for 30 minute sessions. The players will also have access to the interactive video training through a member password. This training is not mandatory. It is a great opportunity for very little cost to get additional coaching from experts on injury prevention and strength training with the leading program in the country. If players and parents are serious about their child's athletics, they will jump on this opportunity. Depending on how many participants there are from our club, Xplosive Edge is prepared to bring the training facilities to us! They have equipment ready to install at CSM and we have the support of the CSM administration to do this. This would allow us to coordinate the training sessions with practices. This is a "Division I -quality" strength program for anyone that wants their child to develop safely, under the supervision of expert strength coaches.

The Dynasty Continues

November 15, 2004

How sweet it is. The Flames won their tenth consecutive MCAC Conference Tournament Championship. "This one meant something. You could see it in the team's face. They knew that this year was a tough competitive conference season," said Trish Siedlik. The Flames dominated games one and two. Bellevue was taken out of their game and forced a lot of balls into CSM's disciplined defense. "We did a great job of the easy ball." The Bruins won game three by tipping in the middle the court, something the Flames were not expecting. "It threw us off and it took us awhile to adjust. In fact it took us into game four to be down 7-1 to get back." The Flames snapped back and tied the game at 14-14. From that point on, CSM's senior, and 2004 MCAC Player of the Year, Kristin Blair turned up the heat. Finishing with 22 kills, the senior lead the way. Junior Ashley Franzluebbers had another great performance with 24 digs. "We are all doing some nice things at this point in time of the season. We need to fine tune some things next week to be ready for the Region Tournament." Regional seedings will be released by Monday. Stay tuned to the web for more details about the Flames run for the title. www.csm.edu

Premier Coach - 2004 MCAC Player of the Year

November 15, 2004

MCAC coaches honored Kristin Blair, a senior rightside hitter from Columbus, Neb., as their pick for the 2004 MCAC Player of the Year. "Kristin was a great choice to represent our conference. She has shown that she is a big factor when it comes to playing us. That team needs to know where she is at all times. If they stop her, we can struggle." The CSM program has dominated this conference honor dating back to 1997 when Head Coach Trish Siedlik (Kucirek) was given the honor. Since the Conference has started in 1994, the Flames have had now 47 players named with All Conference honors. Junior Christi Huigens, a middle hitter from Sioux City, Iowa, and Annie Jankowski, a setter from Omaha, Neb. were both named to the All Conference First Team. "Christi by far is the most athletic player on the team. She has made the switch from outside to middle and we trust her up there with opponents big players. She is a solid blocker." In the final of the MCAC Tournament, Huigens finished with 13 kills, and 8 blocks. Jankowski was the lone setter on a first team of hitters and liberos. "Annie has filled a spot left by a tremendous setter. Teams this year predicted us to struggle. She has stepped in as our "quarterback" and led us to huge wins. Today's final was one of them." Senior outside hitter, Hannah Sheehan, a native of Kremmling, Colorado, was named to the Honorable Mention team. "Hannah has gone from athlete to volleyball player. She is playing some great ball right now. She is a huge help in our blocking. She can shut down the back side of the court when she is up there." Stay tuned to the Flames site here for more updates. www.csm.edu
